Blaine didn’t know when the tears started streaming. “It looks beautiful.” he choked out. Blaine would say more but the tears turned into sobs and soon enough he was holding on to Kurt and sobbing into his shoulder. On any other day Kurt would have gotten angry about ruining his shirt but Blaine knew this was a very special day.
Kurt held on to him, kissing him on the head softly. “I love you,” he whispered. “I love you so much. I can’t wait to marry you.” He pulled his shoulder from Blaine’s face and said, “Stop crying, Blaine. This is a very special occasion and you’re ruining my shirt.” He smiled and kissed Blaine on the lips, a very short but passionate kiss.

Blaine was utterly shocked. He did not expect to have this many emotions thrown at him in such a short time span. Married? Isn’t it a bit too soon? No, we have been together for years and we are far more mature than most people at this age. I firmly believe that we can be married. During this whole thought process Blaine had been sitting in front of Kurt with just a blank expression with his mouth wide open. Blaine quickly closed it and stared at Kurt. “Of course, Kurt. Of course, I’ll marry you. I love you so much.” Blaine hugged him as hard as he could without hurting him. Blaine gave him so many kisses he had lost count. Blaine was so happy he could probably run around the block a few times.
Kurt hugged him back with all the force he could manage, kissing him back happily. “I love you too, baby.” He whispered, tears of joy filling his eyes. “I-Give me your hand,” he whispered, taking it when Blaine held it out. He slipped the ring onto Blaine’s finger gracefully, kissing his knuckle afterwards. “It looks perfect there. What do you think?”

Blaine shed one single tear before he processed what Kurt had said. Blaine’s breathe began to even and he let out a long sigh. “God, Kurt, you had me so scared. I don’t want to you ever you lose you, you hear me? Ever.” He brought Kurt into a big hug and gave him a small kiss on the lips. “So, what was it that you are actually trying to say? Could you be a bit more…. descriptive in your explanation this time?” Blaine chuckled but the pain from just moments ago still was heard in his voice.
“I-I don’t ever, ever want to break up with you. S-So what I was going to ask you today,” he began, his voice shaking. He closed his eyes and counted to three in his head, then slid out of the booth to kneel on the floor in front of Blaine, pulling the box from his pocket. “Blaine Matthew Anderson, the love of my life. We’ve known each other for so long, and sometimes I feel like I just met you yesterday. Nothing we ever do is constant, we’re crazy and all over the place. But one thing I know for sure is that I’ll always love you. With that all said… Will you marry me, Blaine?”

“W-W-What? Moved on?! Kurt, what are you talking about?! I thought what we had was special?!” Blaine voice was rising. Tears were welling up in his eyes. Was Kurt trying to break up with him? What had he done? He couldn’t understand this, he couldn’t. Why would have Kurt brought him to this fancy restaurant if he wanted to break his heart? Did I do something so wrong that Kurt wants to not only break up with me, but publically humiliate me? Oh god, I have to get out of here. Blaine sat up abruptly and made his way to get out of the booth.
Kurt grabbed at Blaine’s shirt. “Fuck! No, that’s-that’s not what I meant! Shit, Blaine, I’m so fucking sorry, fuck,” he whispered, pulling Blaine into him. “See what I mean?” He chuckled nervously. “I told you I’d fuck up. I-I don’t want to break up with you, ever. I promise.”

“Don’t be nervous around me, Kurt. You have known me for years, we have been together forever, you should always feel safe and secure around me.” Blaine smiled giving Kurt a squeeze of the shoulder. “I am sure I won’t take it wrong.” Blaine smiled again.
“Th-That’s the thing,” he whispered. “I-We’ve been together for years, Blaine.” He whispered softly. “Years. D-Don’t you think it’s time we…. Y’know, moved on?”

“So what exactly did you want to talk about, Kurt?” Blaine asked, whilst graciously accepting Kurt’s snuggles. This situation was still very odd to Blaine and he wished that Kurt would give him some answers. Before Blaine could get an answer a waitress came to get their drink order. “Aww, well aren’t you too just precious.” She said very kindly and smiling brightly. “What refreshments can I get you today?” Blaine quickly answered “Two diet cokes please.” The waitress could obviously tell that Blaine was trying to shoo her away but he was too polite to say so. “Ok, sounds great, I will be back shortly with your drinks.” She smiled again and walked away from the booth.
“I-I just… I’m nervous, Blaine,” he whispered once the waitress was out of earshot. “I have to ask you something, and I’m… I’m…” He sighed, trying to calm his nerves. “I’m just scared you- you won’t take it the right way or something.” He blushed, adverting his gaze from Blaine’s stunning eyes. They looked even brighter given the lights they were under.

“Ok.” Blaine agreed. He followed Kurt and got his pea coat before leaving the apartment. They walked down the stairs, Kurt had been insisting that they do since Kurt became an editor of a fashion magazine. “I have to be in my top shape if I actually want to fit into all of Marc Jacob’s Fall Collection.” Kurt had chanted again and again. Blaine almost giggled at the thought, he loved how passionate Kurt was about everything. All of the things he did had to be well thought out and intelligent, Kurt cared so much about the way he acted, it made Blaine laugh. Kurt nearly ran down the stairs, Blaine could tell he was excited, but for what? Blaine was very curious about the whole situation. What did Kurt want to ask him? Blaine couldn’t think about anything terribly eventful happening in the last few days, what could have come up? Kurt opened the door to the city and left it open, waiting for Blaine to follow. Kurt approached the curb and yelled “Taxi!” A yellow taxi cab pulled up right where Kurt was standing. He opened the cab door and motioned for Blaine to get into the car.
Once the car was moving, Kurt stopped feeling so confident. Ohshitohshitohshitohshit this is really happening. He spent the whole ride calming himself, getting out of the car after Blaine, paying the driver almost ten dollars more than he should have in his haste to be out of the cab. He rolled his eyes at his stupidity when he got out of the car, kissing Blaine softly on the lips. They entered the restaurant hand in hand, and the hostess placed them in a semi-secluded booth, as per request. He sat next to Blaine in the booth, snuggling into him.

“I said, of course, I love that place.” Blaine smiled and took Kurt’s hand into his and slowly caressed it. He brought Kurt into a short but passionate kiss and gave him a big hug. “Why are you so nervous, like I would say no? Who do you think I am?” Blaine asked with mock shock.
“I think you’re the best boyfriend ever,” Kurt whispered against his neck. “Well then if you’re for it, then let’s go?” He smiled, the blush fading from his cheeks. You can do this, he told himself. You’re strong and independent… Okay maybe a little dependent on Blaine, but who’s counting?

Blaine was a bit surprised and confused, but he knew Kurt didn’t do things like this on a limb, it was a serious question. “Sure, Kurt. Where do you want to go?” Blaine smiled, trying to act encouraging so Kurt wouldn’t feel embarrassed or scared.
“Remember that little Italian restaurant we went to when we first moved here?” He whispered softly. “I really liked it there… Do you think we could go?” He started to fumble with the buttons on Blaine’s shirt, blushing a little bit more. This is a horrible idea, he told himself. He’ll never say yes. He’s the “guy” in this relationship, so to speak. He’s supposed to make the first moves, especially with things like big steps like this. You shouldn’t do it. He shook his head, burying the negative thoughts and looked back up to Blaine, realizing that he had been talking. “I’m sorry, what did you say?” He whispered. “I spaced out.”

Blaine was a little surprised by the sudden appearance of his boyfriend, he had just announced that he was going to work on his article. “No, I am fine, just a little tired. You kept me up all night, asking me to look at all of your different designs. Fashion is tiring.” Blaine chuckled. “What happened to your article? Are you tired too?”
“Tired of articles. A-And there’s um…” He scratched his neck awkwardly. “I have something I want to ask you, Blaine.” He took Blaine’s hands in his, looking into his boyfriend’s eyes, and he leaned forward and left the smallest chasté kiss on the side of Blaine’s mouth. “If you’re willing to go out for dinner with me, I think that would be a perfect place to ask.” He blushed, nuzzling his face into Blaine’s neck.
